Red Diamond Merlot Review

So, anyone who knows me knows that I am a sucker for a nice, dry merlot. I know, I know... merlot - most people hate it. But, it's my wine of choice and no one can stop me! Lately I've really gotten into the habit of stopping by the liquor store on my way home from work on Friday's and spending about $30 on 3-4 bottles of new merlot to try. Some I like and some I've really hated - so I'm going to start reviewing them here. Because really, who doesn't love to find a GREAT bottle of red wine for $10 or less?!?

Last night I uncorked a fresh bottle of Red Diamond Merlot. (this is my second time trying it, but let's just say this time, I was able to actually taste it, ehem....) I found it on sale for about $8.00, which is a huge plus to start with.

Here's what the bottle says: "Just wait until you try it! Our juicy Washington Merlot is brought to life by a splash of Cabernet Sauvignon for structure and complexity while Cabernet Franc rounds out the fruity characteristics. Perfectly balanced fruit, lush tannins and acidity, Red Diamond Merlot will make your mouth water for more."

Here's what I think: Great bottle of wine, very dry with a tasty hint of fruit..just a hint! I was more than happy to drink my two (full) glasses and am ready to purchase another bottle (or three) as soon as it's on sale :)

My Grade: A-
